Expression Tips
1. pack up: (떠나기 위해 잠을) 싸다(꾸리다)
We're packing up to move into the new house.
우리는 새집으로 이사 가기 위해 짐을 꾸리고 있어.
2. take a picture: 사진을 찍다
Excuse me, but would you take a picture of me ?
실례지만, 제 사진 한 장만 찍어 주실래요?
3. fit ~ in...: ~ 을 ...에 (딱 맞게) 넣다
I can't fit myself in this dress any more.
나는 더 이상 이 드레스를 입을 수가 없어.
4. be out of one's mind: 정신 나가다, 미치다
I must be out of my mind.
나 미쳤나 봐.
5. haul around : (무거운 것을) 여기저기 끌고 다니다
You don't have to haul around your textbooks. Leave them in your locker.
교재를 여기저기 끌고 다닐 필요는 없어. 사물함에 둬.
6. then : 그러면
A : I am too tired to walk any more.
너무 피곤해서 더 이상 걸을 수가 없어.
B : Let's take a break, then.
그럼 를 쉬자.
7. whether + 주어 + 동사 + (목적어) + or not : ~인지 아닌지 (명사절)
= whether or not + 주어 + 동사 + (목적어)
Do you know whether it will rain or not this weekend? 이번 주말에 비가 올지 안 올지 아니?
I'm not sure whether he will forgive you or not. 그가 너를 용서해 줄지 아닐지 잘 모르겠어.
We haven't decided yet whether we should buy a house or not. 우리는 집을 사야 할지 아닐지 아직 결정하지 못했어.
8. 주어 + be동사, be동사 + not + 주어 : 부가의문문
The test was so easy, wasn't it? 시험이 아주 쉬웠지, 그렇지 않니?
They are your friends, aren't they? 그들은 네 친구들이지, 그렇지 않니?
9. 의문사구 + 주어 + 동사 : 의문사구가 쓰인 간접의문문
He asked her how she was. 그는 그녀에게 몇 살인지 물어보았어.
Do you realize how dangerous the situation is? 그 상황이 얼마나 위험한지 알아?
You never know how much I was relieved to hear that. 그것을 듣고 내가 얼마나 안심했는지 넌 절대 몰라.
Whether or not you like it, I'm going out tonight. 네가 좋아하든 안 좋아하든, 나는 오늘 밤에 와출할 거야.
I have to attend the wedding, whether or not I want to. 내가 원하든 원하지 않든, 나는 그 결혼식에 참석해야 해.
10. Are you out of your mind? = Are you nuts (crazy/insane)?
A : I'm thinking of marrying the man. 나는그 남자랑 결혼할 생각이야.
B : Are you nuts? 제정신이야?
